On a new Taco with less than 5000 miles, will it hurt to add a can of Seafoam ever 6 months or so to tank of gas to help keep things clean? I have had great results with older engines. What can it hurt?

 

Probably wont hurt anything but I personally wouldnt waste the money. I dont think you'll gain any benefit from running 2 cans through the tank a year.

 

One can treats 8-25 gallons, I think by way of tank.

 

This one has V6 and is run about 50 miles a week. Thought it might help with moisture. you're probably right though.

I used it. It didnt do anything bad. The engine runs a little smoother

Yes, but yours is 15 years older and with (probably) significantly more miles

 

so how much of the can do you pour into the vacume line. and the rest goes into the gas tank? also can you add it to your oil? sorry im new.

I poured 1 can after 10,000 mile because it was on sale for $6.

I wouldn't bother with the crankcase method until 100k. lol

 

With a truck at almost 112,000, Getting an oil change at 112,356 should i consider any of the above methods to help me truck out a little bit? its a V-6

 

What is the recommended interval for doing this on a 2nd gen?

 

You have less than 5K miles...could deposits already build up this early on??

Maybe just go with the fuel treatment stuff from Lucas for now...seafoam later on...waaayyy later on

 

I only put it in a full tank of gas not in intake. Once every 10,000 miles should keep it clean.

 

I put some in a turbo'd lexus is300(2jzge-t) around 58k miles after having repeated misfires...drove it around the block and it fixed it up, even noticeably ran better.

i'd think maybe 1/2 a can every 10k miles should do the job. it would work better if you had an engine operating time to go off of rather than mileage.

Used to have to use this industrial citrus cleaner on some turbine engine manifold supply lines...oh the fun of playing with JP-8..

 

Seafoam is very good> I only add to my gas and never have put it in the intake. I guess that would be ok on an old dirty engine. I think a can ever 10,000 miles in the tank will keep it clean. My 99 Taco would not idle when I got it (used 145,000) and one can fixed it right up.
