    Hey guys,
So, here in Anchorage, it has been averaging about -10 here. With this, I have had a VERY easy frozen driver window. It won't even snow, and it will be frozen shut. We had a high of 15 today without any snow, it would hardly budge. Looks like it is frozen to the water seal. Anyone had this issue??
Also, a frozen clutch? I press it in, and I could Pop the clutch, and it takes about a full second to come all the way back up. Usually takes a few miles before it is fine. Anyone else???

Do you have a block heater, would highly recomend one for that kind of cold. Your fluids are close to freezing so your truck needs a long time to warm up. Dont know a solution to frozen clutch. For the windows i never roll them down in that kind of cold. Try scraping them off and heating up the rubber seal with a heat gun or blow dryer. Ive had doors and locks frozen shut before, riped off part of the paint. Winters are brutal on all cars. Take the time to make sure its warmed up.

Might try coating your rubber seals in some WD-40 or something similar to keep them from freezing and sticking to you window

Yeah I've had the clutch thing happen one 5* morning (thats about as cold as it gets here). You just gotta let it warm up for a bit on those mornings. Also definitely get a block heater, that oil is like molasses at that temp and cant lubricate the engine like it should, causing substantial engine wear.

my clutch does that also too and gets back to normal after driving a few miles. My truck sits in a garage at night. Im in the biglake area and commute to anchorage, this morning it was -15 at my house. also this is not the time to be washing your truck until it warms up bit. Its weird we jumped right into january weather in freaking nov.

907taco. This winter has been crazy! I have an interior warmer, and a oil pan heater. Working on getting a block heater.

Mid 70s here right now but, used to live in the cold.

Anywhot, the clutch is hydrulicly actuated so I would expect it to be stiff on first few uses after a good cold soak. If it were actually frozen, I would be it would not move at all.

As far as the window, I'd attempt a very fine layer of thin lube.

I don't see any res next to it?? It is just a line that goes from the brake res, into the bulkhead where the clutch res should be. This is an I4 btw

You betcha someone will.:) Yup the 2nd gen Tacomas use the same reservior for the clutch as the brake - the small portion in front is divided off internally.

Had the same issues in Fairbanks. Just gotta let all the fluids warm up, even with having the block, oil pan, and battery heater. These vehicles aren't really made for -50 deg. Best advice, get an Auto Start so it's ready by the time you leave for work.

My clutch has been very stiff at 0* but no issues as far as actually driving in it.

    -start using 0W40 synthetic oil
-switch to synthetic for all fluids
-your clutch will continue to be stiff for a few miles-no fix. At -40 this will be longer. You will have to get good at 'timing' (used to actually count off) when the clutch comes up and reaches release point.
-red optima battery on next change
    -battery blanket
    -block heater for sure
-isopropyl gas line antifreeze (not methyl)

The interior warmer may be the problem with the window freezing, depending on how warm it gets the cab. It may be causing some moisture around the seals. You need to get a block heater and get it on a timer. I had 24 below yesterday morning and my clutch was stiff as well. That's just part of living in this great state. I had my clutch plate freeze to my flywheel one time in Cantwell. Not Fun!

    Ditto.

Sounds like moisture got in the window seal and froze in the middle of the night. Hit the center of the window squarely with your fist a few times. That's usually enough to break the ice and let the window move.

Don't be a pussy about it either. It takes a lot to bust a window.

For the love of god though, don't have keys in your hand when you do it.

Second, sounds like your vehicle isn't winterized. Get on that shit ASAP.
