I have the Flowmaster all stainless steel single in dual out kit and have been very satisfied with it. Louder than stock but not too loud. I like the look of dual pipes versus 1 single pipe.

Lots of options out there. Hard to really say "the best" it's more going to come down to your preference for sound. As mentioned, try searching around here and on youtube for some clips. I have the TRD exhaust myself. The tip looks great and it sounds pretty good. Although I wish it were a little louder so if you're wanting something pretty loud I'd stay away from the TRD. If I did it again I'd probably look at Borla or Banks.

Flowmaster 50 series delta flow sounds good which is what is on the american thunder kit. If you want performance then maybe Dynomax, Aero Turbine, or Magnaflow. Flowmaster will not give you any performance gains, but it does sound pretty good.

I went with the TRD myself. I got it as part of my purchase. I'm happy with it. It's a little louder than stock and it doesn't drone. No noticeable performance gain.

Just curious, but I had a TRD exhaust on my Gen 1 Tacoma and ended up taking it off because it droned too bad and was annoying. Has anyone compared the Gen 2 TRD exhaust to the Gen 1? I'd like to get an exhaust for my 2012 but don't want another exhaust that drones really bad.

^^ Thanks! Seems like the Gen 2's are a little quiter. Might have to go back to the dealer and drive a TX Pro and hear it 1st hand!

so is the exhaust relatively unchanged on the 2012? i have a '12 and want the magnaflow catback but it seems like toyota changed the tacoma around just enough for a lot of the mods out for 2nd gen to not be able to fit the 2012 (intake, headlights, bumper, etc).

    Lots.
Where did you get this data from? I have a TRD exhaust so I'm not getting butt hurt. I'm just saying your claims seem very arbitrary and I doubt you have facts to back them up.

Can't go wrong with a TRD exhaust. Look how nice the tip looks!
