yeah, no doubt go down Rte 38 South of Cherry Hill, and in about 7 miles, the buildings start having boarded up windows, people at the street corners trying to sell you $1 bottles of water and 6 packs of wife beater shirts. It's definitely a melting pot of people.

I spent almost a week trying to find something in my budget and with a garage (I have dirtbikes). Best I found was Cherry Hill, searched near and far to find something closer to base. I figured gas would be a new expenditure, but I only work 4 days a week and one on call shift (weather guy) so not too bad I guess. Always open to recommendations for something closer.

FUEL! Make sure you have a gas can in the back of your truck.
Snacks are good, but make sure they're not loaded with carbs. Breakfast bars are actually pretty good.
When you make stops for lunch etc, don't eat too heavy. Again, avoid carbs. Carbs make you sleepy.

Drove from SC to Chicago last month. 13hr drive. Didn't do it in the truck but in the gas sippin' girl-car.

Garages are expensive. Unlike Arizona, a lot of apartments here don't offer garages. I put my motorcycle in a mom and pop storage facility for $90/mo for a 5x10. As for your dirtbikes, I recommend either get used to not riding them or selling them as there aren't a whole lot of places around that you'll be able to ride them. There's a lot of open area in the country side, but it's private property or state parks where you can't ride dirt bikes or quads. Cherry Hill is really nice, but a bit far south. My recommendation would be to either live in Bordentown, Pemberton, Mount Holly or Moorestown. Morrestown can be expensive but you're off of Rte 38 and I-295 clsoe to Cherry Hill and about 25 miles from base. Maple Shade isn't a bad place either (between Morrestown adn Cherry Hill). A lot of military people live in Fox Meadow apartments aka Fox Ghetto in Maple Shade. They've really cleaned the place up. My apartment was like 985 a month for a 2 bedroom townhouse.

I have a street bike as well, so definately need the garage and not sure about a mom and pop storage place. Already been talking to guys on thumpertalk about places to ride and tracks, its one of the few joys in my life, so they arent getting sold. I looked at Fox Meadow, like you said just didnt seem the best. Im ok with the commute in exchange for a nicer area, and a garage for my toys.

Yep gas is 3.01 here. I budgeted plenty for gas with the commute, so Im not worried about it too much, I just cant find or see the trade off for almost same price apartments or crappy places in crappy neighborhoods just not to have to commute.
