Painting sliders

I'm getting a set of Elite sliders hopefully come monday. I plan on welding them on next week. But, what should I do?

Spray paint before the weld? Or Weld, then spray paint?

 

Paint everything but where you're welding, then weld, then paint again! You're going to need to spray your bare frame after welding anyways to prevent rust.

I'd paint before you install them, that way you know for sure you got every inch painted off.

 

I would say you stole my idea, but looks like mine made it up first!

 

X2 it's way easier to spray the sliders before you weld them on just stop about 1 or 2" from the ends of the legs so you have a clean surface to weld.

 

Reason I ask, is because my buddy who is going to do the welding, said if I painted before hand, then I would need to watch out for weld spatter ruining the paint

 

True, but you're welding almost completely under the truck so all the said "spatter" should not be directed towards your sliders. They'll be just fine man. If not, the touch up will be way easier then having to completely paint then after it's welded on.

 

If your mig welding them on just check your gas pressure and your feed and amperage and you should be fine with very little spatter. If you using a stick welder switch to DC current and it will help. I welded mine outside with 035 wire and my pressure was set at 12psi.
