I would love a tire gate, i think they look sick. I have a backup camera in my tailgate that i don't want to lose and i also really need my tailgate in the down position for hauling my motorcycle and fourwheeler tho. So i am going to fab up something that i can quickly remove, as well as posibly fold down so i can still have my tire secure with the toneau cover closed, or angled up towards the rear window with the toneau cover rolled up and the cb antenna up as well.

true but i need a tailgate for hauling my bike and 4 wheeler, the truck bed is too small without the tailgate down

You can get a Backup Camera that mounts to the license plate screws. It's a good alternative.

 

I already have one of those, i have 2 backup cameras (1 in my mirror and 1 in my headunit). The tailgate one is nice for hooking up to a trailer hitch, my license plate one is better for backing up, and nice when the tailgate is down

Bought it off another member, then ghetto-fabbed some track mounts. If I recall correctly, the other member got the basket from e-bay and the bed bars from yet another TW member.

Go figure.

I like it because there's plenty of room underneath to carry larger stuff, if provides a ton of attachment for tools, etc. (shovel, axe, what have you) with use of bungee cords, and it acts like extra tie-points for items in the bed as well.

Easier access to the spare in trail situations is a given.

Nice that it's removable if I need the full bed.

Only real downside is it interferes some with rear visibility. You position your mirrors correctly, it's not enough to keep me from using the system.

 

this is true ^^^ having the spare elevated does mess with the rear view. my rear window is pretty much useless. you get used to it pretty quick though.
