I may be singing papers for a 2010 Double Cab TRD Off Road Tacoma on Friday. I have a few questions before I jump head first into the deepend.

First, it's a 2010, with 10,800 some miles on it, so there is most of the original factory warranty left, and I'm thinking about getting the extended warranty for $1,500 extra. Is it worth it? I don't want to have to deal with any major issues other than regular maintenance for at least 100,000 miles (hopefully longer). The dealership called this warranty a Certified Used Warranty, or something to that effect.

Also, being that this is a used Tacoma, are there thing in the engine or suspension that I should specifically pay attention to make sure that every that is supposed to be there actually is? I.e. that nothing was switched out or changed, or damaged and not mentioned?

I did look inside the wheel wells, and it looked like the brackets that hold the leaf springs together had a little surface rust. Is this normal?

I'm going to get raped financially over this deal, but I need a new vehicle asap, and I have a chance to get the one I've been looking for, just want to make sure that everything is working and on the up and up.

How much are they asking if you dont mind? Id say if you can haggle the CPO into the deal. Not much to really look out for, Just make sure it wasnt beat to hell by the First owner. Im sure the first person just couldnt afford to keep it at the time so he gave it back. Rust on these trucks are normal.

It's about $27,900 without the extended warranty. The dealership said that the previous owner traded it in for a 5.7 liter Tundra with a fifth wheel for pulling his camper trailer or something.

Double Cab, 4WD, TRD Off Road, with tow package. Actually the quoted price is 27,400 without the warranty. I read the number wrong.

Okay so a little better now that i know its at least a double cab 4x4, But i still think in my opinion i wouldn't pay over 25. Truecar.com shows 25.5 to be the average price. So i would definitely try getting that price down.

Wow. I only spent 30,400 for my 2012 TRD 4x4 offroad. It seems kind of high to me.

That's a bit high, I think. Although Tacomas really retain their value; you could almost get into 2012 for that + the price of the extended warranty.

The extended warranty isn't bad, but you can sometimes find them for cheaper online. You have until 3yr/36k miles though, so don't be pressured into it.

Another question; After going over the paper work that I got, I'm not sure that this particular truck has the tow package. The paper work doesn't say anything about it. But it does have the tow hitch receiver on the back. Does that indicate that it does have the tow package? I didn't get a chance to inspect the alternator or engine and transmission cooler, etc.. or look for wiring.

Do not pay that much for an extended warranty. You can buy it on-line for far less. You can haggle the price of the warranty at time of purchase. I showed them what I could get it for on-line and paid about 900 for the platinum warranty, 7 years.

OP, go here and price a new 2012 4x4 offroad Taco. A similarly built truck as the one you're looking at has an invoice of $30,291. If you think two years of depreciation and 11k miles is worth only a $3k discount then go for it - otherwise I'd start negotiating again. Shoot for maybe $25.5k? I'm not sure exactly - I havent priced 2010's personally.

Also do not buy the extended warranty for $1500, you can get it much cheaper buying online right here from TW. There are dealers who come on here specifically to sell high-volume, low-cost warranties, and they are the exact same as the ones your local dealers offer (you can go to any dealer in the states with them, I believe)
