    Hey guys,

I'm almost ashamed to make this, but I am out of choices so i'm turning to TW! I was in a huge rush to install my pop n lock before I went to work, so I was quickly doing it, without reading the instruction threads on here, and I accidently snapped one of the rod holders. It still fits in the handle, but it's broken, so I am worried it will come out and then I won't be able to open my tailgate... Or get into my bed since I have a tonneau.

I called the dealership, and those can't be bought without buying the whole handle, which is 200 bucks.

    Help! Please? Any suggestions?

I haven't looked at it but it sounds like a keeper for a rod/pivot connection.
If so, for eons carburetor linkage used this type of keeper.
Might be able to fit a generic (auto parts store) rod keeper.

This is going to be hard to do online.
You might try calling (or email) Pop&Lock and see if they know of a generic part number for that keeper.
Or take the stuff into your local auto parts house and see if they can match something up.

Yeah, I did do that. I wen't to Napa and another parts place, neither of which could help me.

They directed me to a generic door rod clip, but I think it's a long shot.

I was thinking someone else may have had this issue when installing their pop n lock, and might be able to help? they seem pretty easy to break

Okay, so oddly enough, after calling 11 dealerships. I found 1 service guy who looked a little deeper for me. He found that the clips could be ordered for a 2008 tacoma. So he said he could order me one. Is there any possible reason that the clips for the 08 wouldn't fit an 11? I thought they were the same door handle... Minus the camera that mine doesn't have anyways?

    haha nice man!

The part number is "69759 - 20100" SNAP

Basically just ask for the tailgate rod holder snap off the 2008 tacoma. They'll so you a picture of it. It should be $4.80 ish.

This clips are very popular the rod is the same size as many many door locks on all makes of cars you could definitely find one walking around a junk yard.

Yeah but for 4 bucks haha, it's not worth my time looking in a junk yard trying to find the right sized one.

So i was loading up my yamaha grizzly 700 into the back of my truck and ended up smashing it down onto the tailgate while loading. Jacked the tailgate all up. In the process of bending the tailgate back to somewhat of normal one of the snaps broke inside. I was going to purchase a new tailgate and lock but this seems like a far cheaper fix. Thanks for the part #.

I also broke a clip trying to put a tailgate lock in and after reading the comments I thought was in for a long ordeal finding replacement clips.I lucked out and found them at NAPA door replacement parts. The part # is 735-2783 hope this helps.
