Exact same thing they did to me. They now tell me the other ones are back ordered. You might as well get the ball rolling.

Got a call yesterday, said the parts are in (leafs/shock/u-bolts/etc). Dropped truck off today and asked to see the replacement springs before leaving. Bright, shiny new 4-leaf springs/etc, supposed to be done tomorrow!

Jan. 21st going into a dealer who wants to 'inspect' the truck before giving me a solid yes/no.

This is after talking to several dealers, all of whom wanted either: bring the truck in with a load, we want to test drive it, or we can inspect it for damage and sell you new parts.

It almost feels like it's not worth the trouble....

If you haul anything with consistency it isn't worth the trouble. The TSB 4 leaf pack isn't that big of an improvement load carrying wise. Personally I would recommend a new aftermarket leaf pack or airbags.

Had mine done Friday. On the initial visit, I showed up with a copy of the TSB, then waited around for them to "inspect" my truck for about 3 hours. Finally, they walked me back to the service department, and I showed them where the paint was completely worn off the bump stops. They finally pulled the TSB up on their computers, contacted Toyota and got approval to do the TSB on my truck, and assured me that they would order the parts that day.

Took over two weeks to get the parts in, including one explanation that "the warrany company" had been closed over the holidays (???). I took the truck in at 0945, per my appointment (for a 1.4 hour repair, according to the TSB/Warranty paperwork), and left it. Called them at 1600, and was told that they thought they were missing some parts (???), and the truck wouldn't be ready until noon the next day. Truck actually was finished at 1800, but "it was too late to call you" so I got a call at 0800 on Saturday to come pick it up.

When I got to the service department, the service writer told me I would be getting a survey from Toyota, and if I couldn't give her top ratings in all areas, she would be considered as having "failed," and it would affect her job and pay. Unbelieveable.

Hendrick Toyota in Fayetteville, NC. Your mileage may vary....

This all seems crazy to (except the backorder part). I have never given a customer any problems that wants them done. A lot of times as tech we cant always duplicate a customers concern (I.E. radio problems rarely get duplicated, but always get replaced), but we use our better judgement to determine if a repair is needed. I have done 3 sets for guys on here alone. Sorry you guys are having issues. Getting ready to do another set in the next week or so.

How would you replicate this issue for the tech? Show up to the dealership with weight in the bed?

Has anyone had issues getting the TSB done with aftermarket shocks installed?

You seem to be the minority as far as techs go, judging by the negative response a lot of TW members have experienced. :)

I was thinking about taking my truck in (extended warranty). I was concerned about the aftermarket shocks. Then again, I could just throw the stockers back in for a few days. /thinking out loud

Well, got the 4-leafs now and a new shock, no more sagging ear end! But, now my steering wheel is way crooked, this particular dealer's front end alignments aren't worth a darn. It was a huge headache, but the extended warranty finally covered more than $1700 for this deal (according to dealer invoice).

I know this is an old post, but that's kinda the point. For a year after the recall was issued the leaf springs stayed on backorder. I got tired of babying my truck with hauling stuff so I decided to install the Firestone Ride Rite double bladder airbags in conjuction with the springs. Essentially alleviating the leaf springs job. Today I had to put it in the shop of I put it in the shop for brake work (spongy pedal) that no one can figure out. (that's another headache). Here it is, 9 years later and these springs are STILL ON BACKORDER! So my name is now on the list.
