So i ordered a set of general grabbers through 4WP:rolleyes:. I was expecting some sort of delay, but the store ended up having 3 of the tires. The store manager just called up General Tire for me and found out they have 1700 in the size I want on national backorder and will not resume production until Jan 1st 2012.

I was just wondering if anyone knew of any tires shops (local or online) that might have the tires in stock. I just need to buy 1. And to be specific in a 285/75/16.

Tirevan.com said they had some. Not sure what size, but you can check there. It was around $800 for them to come and install the tires.

They are on a national back-order because there was a write-up in Car and Driver or some other magazine awhile ago, which raved them. So everyone figured they are the newest, best AT tire out there. I had a set...actually I went through 3 sets until we found a set that would balance. Soft compound, gripped well, fairly quiet, never had the chance to see how they wore in the long run, but even my 3.4L was feathering the lugs from acceleration alone on the rears. Has anyone else had an issue with balancing these?

I have had trouble balancing them, three times so far. One was out of round, rated a 27 and it was replaced General at no cost. One of my other tires is a 23 (25 is the maximum) so they would not replace that one. Onreviews here the Tacoma does not do well it the tire is higher than a 16.
