Has anyone bought an HID kit for their tacoma? I have an 08 tacoma and wanted some bright lights but when the hid's came in, they didnt even come close to fitting housing. any suggestions? or has anyone else had this problem?

Please DO NOT put HID's in a regular headlight. Please do it correctly, spend the extra money and retro fit them. It will save everyone's eyes driving towards you. You will also lose light output just putting them in a regular headlamp.

Gotta agree with the last post about putting the HID's in the regular housing and the oncoming traffic, BUT when they are installed they sure look AMAZING... Once you go HID in any vehicle you have, you will never go back!

Anyone know if they have the retrofits available for the 2012's yet?

    Fixed it for ya

There are much better ways to improve output vs just throwing a HID kit in a housing that wasn't meant for it. Check out PIAA Xtreme white bulbs or, if you really must have HIDs, do a retrofit with projectors so you're not blinding oncoming traffic.

So you can't just put the HID's right into the regular housing? Disregarding the comment about the HID's being lame. I keep hearing about this retrofit thing but not too familiar with it. whats the difference? you send your product to them and them make it to fit your truck? because i already bought this one. would like to use it, but don't want to blind the world by doing it wrong haha

Go to that website, write down their phone number and call them tomorrow. They have excellent customer service and will answer any question you have. I spent 45 minutes on the phone with them Monday afternoon asking questions.

Projectors focus the light put out by HID bulbs. HID bulbs emit light much differently than halogens which is why you get really bad glare and why they aren't as effective in the reflector housing that was meant for a halogen.

They're cool for you though

I went with brighter halogens and they work well for me.

I didn't know about all that. I was stating that because I saw you had been banned......didn't know who was going to take over as the HID King

I like LED's they are just more $$$. Looking for a cheaper way to get brighter lights, college is expensive! but i guess you pay for what you get.
