My Cruise control switched just popped apart one day and I don't know why or how it goes back together. Well, it didn't completely come apart, the "ON-OFF" push button at the end was sticking way out and it no longer would click and stay in when pushed. Here's the picks I have of all the parts -

There's two electrical leads that should be in the right spot.

    A spring

Then there's this little guy. I'm not sure how it goes in exactly but I'm sure if this is put in the right way everything will work.

Anyone know or is willing to risk there cruise control looking inside to see how it's assembled?

Take some better pictures and I am sure I can figure that out.

Also, if possible, hold that little E shaped piece up to the switch housing.

I think all that switch does is momentarily connect the 2 wires going into it, like a momentary SPST switch.

That copper piece would be moved by the button on the end to come in contact with the 2 pads that the wires are attached to.

As far as the orientation of that little copper contact, it is hard to see how it fits in the switch housing so I can't help with that without some better pics. I think the spring would contact the longer center prong of the copper piece so that the on/off button would be spring loaded. (you push the button which pushes the contact to touch the pads on the wires. The spring pushes it all back when you let your finger off.)

I have a 1st Gen, otherwise I would have taken mine apart already. :p

I just had the same problem and I tried putting it back together forward and backwards and it stays in but doesnt activate the CC. i touched the metal piece to the 2 contact patches and it turned the CC on and off. I might just buy a china one from ebay/Amazon for $13
