Ive had unisured guy hit me and run in MD i had got his plates and all that stuff, since the police were able to arrest this guy im not 100% sure how it will happen but my insurance is full coverage with a 500$ deductible normally and because it was uninsured i had to pay 250$ even though it wasnt my fault. This price varies per state, i think my agent told me arizona is into the thousand. and usually with frame damage i mean if this guy was even doing 40, im going to say its total'd out. yea they are made to take hits pretty good and save the passenger but otherwise it would i think be a smarter move to take the check and get a new truck.

    Half the verdict is in.

Will not be totaled kind of happy about that!

They said 99% chance they are replacing the frame, they are replacing the hitch mount, the bumper, the support (whatever that is), tail gate, bottom of bed the plastic piece, pulling dents out of cab, along with some other things.

Talked to body shop head guy about doing all pro bumper he is A-ok with it going to clear it with insurance and get back to me ASAP.

Already emailed All Pro awaiting their reply.

While it's in their going to have a few dents pulled.

Dude, I'm glad you and your family are safe and alive. I hope your truck gets fixed better than new and that the asshole that hit you rots in jail and is sent back to wherever he came from.

    Bump update

Ok so the body shop says its ok to drive....

Another place I got a estimate said if I drive it, it'll wear out the tires quicker.

Now the current body shop I said to fix it.

They said they are going to try and pull the frame (cold pull), but if its not going to work (they said they're not going to pull anything off of it just try and pull it). They are going to have me pick up my truck and then they are going to order the frame which is a ETA 6-8 weeks... During that time I can drive my truck....

This does not sound safe.... Input? He told me its safe to drive right now but what about if they attempt to pull the frame?

On a plus side, getting 11--$ for my bumper ordering it on monday.

    So input?

    Hey guys have another question,

its going in the shop at the end of the month, when my CBI bumper gets here.

I noticed my truck looks different in the rear-end like the passenger wheel is farther out then the driver side...

So I measured it from the frame (which could be unreliable), on both sides to the outside tread of the tire.

My Passenger side sticks out to 16 1/4 my driver is 16" out....

Could it be because of the frame or what? The body shop said its safe to drive but I'm a little skeptical now....

I would push the insurance for a rental. Driving it imo is unsafe because the truck has already given up the rear crumple zone to protect you, if rear ended again, the shock will be transferred to you next.

Just catching up on this...seeing as how I got rear ended back in October, I can tell you I think the damage is gonna be a lot. Be sure you tell them you do not want third party or rebuilt parts (think trailer hitch and bumper as examples of being rebuilt and lights as aftermarket parts)--accept only OEM parts. Generally, when you're approving the estimate, there'll be a separate authorization for aftermarket part substitution. The damage to my truck was almost $9,000 and it took about a month to repair. Many parts of the bed were replaced, the cab repaired and the frame straightened.

Since the damage is so severe, your truck should be put on a frame rack and the frame measured for alignment. When the work is complete, there should be a report with the work that was performed on the frame. When they finish all the work, the truck should be realigned.

Gotta say, although my truck is repaired and it looks great, I know when I sell it it will have an accident on the Carfax report and that means I won't get top dollar even though it was in excellent condition before the accident--you don't get compensated for that.

Is your insurance going to cover the damage then go after the guy that hit you? That's the best since it's unlikely he has assets to cover the damage. They'll be able to figure out how to get their money back. Don't forget to keep track of everything you spend in addition to what insurance covers. Bumper, rental car, etc. Everything.

As far as driving it? It's probably safe for the non-freeway stuff. Once it's repaired, back to whatever you were doing before.

    Good luck with everything.
