    agreed

every so often you get guys on here posting how they use 4HI on pavement in the rain for better traction , it's ridiculous . I live in the rainforest and there isn't a single sole here that grabs 4wd in the rain .

NOT for rain just driving down the road ... ever. But this guy is talking about slipping driving up his driveway (I assume it's steep). Not gonna hurt using the 4WD to avoid the spinning; especially at a slow speed. But that's just my opinion. :)

it’s kinda steep and we got it resealed last year.(asphalt driveway) and one spot thats about 3 feet long and as wide as drive way is wear back tires lost traction and i just stopped moving. other than that i i never use it on road. well i may when we get snow. ( they tend to not salt plow the road i life on allot.

edit: i try not to use 4wd if i don’t need it even in dirt.

That's probably safest! I think I'd get tired of the rain there, but then by March I'll be tired of snow and wind here. Gotta have something to complain about until fishing season comes around again.

I used 4Hi the other week on the highway, straight stretch, dry road....trying to get those 10 miles in a month somehow. Didnt have it on too long because the road was going to curve.

I know this has been discussed many times.
Please take into consideration this is my third toyota pick-up.

I have always, on the first of the month ( so i remember )
put my truck into 4WD to lube and operate the system.
Even on a dry road if thats all that was available at the time.
yes i pick a stretch of straight road, but will turn in needed.
try to catch a rainy day if possible, would give more than dry pavement

I will also leave it in 4WD for days at a time if the roads are covered with snow and ice. This is the reason i buy the trucks.

My point is i have never had a drive train problem with any of my trucks
my last truck was 14 years old and had 184K miles on it.
But i believe in the use it or it will not function proberly rule.
and by you engaging it every month, you will know exactly how
it works, sounds, reacts, handles, etc. which will then give you the knowledge if something doesnt feel, sound, or work right.

I know some will preach "dont do it" and its your truck, do what you want.
But i bought my truck to use the 4WD system, and im not affraid to use it.

Agreed , you should use the 4wd system .

Other than lubing the system , however , there is never a need for it on dry pavement

    yes , i agree

i dont just drive around in 4WD on dry pavement for nothing.

but there are those who make it seem like your going to screw up your truck

the minute the activate the 4WD on dry pavement,

and im here to say that is not the case.
