Extended Warranty Prices...

Just picked up my 2012 Sport Access cab on Sat. Dealer offers me 6yr/100k extended warranty for $1895. Tell him "no" and he comes down to $1695. Shopping around on the web and I come across http://warranty.actontoyota.com. I live in NH, but work about 3 miles from Acton Toyota in Littleton, MA. Go thru the questionnaire and get a quote for $800 for the same coverage! Platinum plan, 6yr/100K. Check it out if your'e shopping for extended warranty. I haven't pulled the trigger yet, but probably will this week. They also offer plans for extended Toyota Care as well.

 

What a price difference. I never buy these as I just see them as a money maker for the seller, especially a dealer. If I did buy them, I'd probably wait until the current warranty was about to expire. Bought a new car in 05 and I think we still get ext warranty offers once every 6 mths.

 

I cant remember but there is a toyota dealership on the forums that gives great extended toyota warranties....I think its "handy toyota" I got my 5yr/125K platinum warranty for $ 950

 

I got my Toyota platinum 5yr/60k for 650.00

 

I usually do NOT buy the extended warranty, but my last 2 Tacomas have cost me some $$ on out of warranty repairs. 05 blew the AC system and was $3K to replace. Toyota paid 1/2 cause I complained. The 09 I just traded cost me $1400 for a complete clutch job at 42K miles. Complained about that too, but no dice.
For reference, Acton Toyota is quoting me $475 ro 5yr/60K, $680 for 5yr/100k and $850 to 5yr/125K.
