Traction Control

I'm pretty sure I don't have Traction Control and VSC. I have the 2005 TRD sport. What exactly does Traction Control do?

Controls Traction .... Sorry, it's hard to resist the easy set.

Seriously, it uses the brakes and 4WD components to transfer torque from the slipping wheel or wheels to the non-slipping wheel or wheels. That is a simplistic explanation .... kind of like ABS for traction/driving.

One of the mechanical geniuses around her could explain it more indepth and technically correct.

Does that mean the 09 and up are more capable than 05-08?

I'm out of my expertise here --- mine is a base sr5 ac 4x4/4cy/5spd without the bells and whistles. But I think the ATRAC and "stuff" have been out/available for quite awhile ... can't say exactly since what year, sorry.
