I am currently in the market for a roof basket for the top of my camper shell. I have the Thule bars up top already so I need a basket and some type of clamps to attach the basket to the Thule cross bars. I also want to add 4 lights to the front of it and 2 Rugged Ridge LED 2"x2" lights to the back for loading and unloading a 4-wheeler onto a trailer. I have contacted Baja Rack but their prices are just ridiculous ($600 for the basket and then $200 for the light attachment on the front). The only thing I want to use the basket for is to move the spare tire to the top and get it out from under the vehicle. My question is......does anyone have any recomendations on a rack? I am scared to purchase the Thule or Yakima rack due to the metal possibly being to thin and when welding on light tabs mess up the basket. Any opinions are appreciated! And I know someone will say it, but not putting it on is not an option. It is part of my overall "plan" which is now written in stone and unchangeable.

If the price on the baja rack was ~$400, they would sell a ton of them.

I can't bring myself to pay $5-600 for a roof rack.

That is the predicament that I am in. And then another $200 for the light bar.....a little steep I think.

I've been looking for roof baskets for awhile and this is the best price I could find.

It looks just like a Malone rack, but those are hard to find. You used to get them on Amazon for $99.00, but they also sold for $300.00 elsewhere.

The next least expensive was at Wally World. http://www.walmart.com/ip/SportRack-Roof-Basket/15611263
