    WARNING!: thread revival

Lived in New York City the past 20+ years, and didn't own a car, this is my first TACO. My last truck was a 1974 Chevy 1/2 ton that finally died around 1990. What a difference 40 years makes!

    My '74 Chevy:

    350 V8
manual trans. with shifter on steering column (“3-on-the-tree” for those old enough to remember)
no power brakes (vacuum assist only)
    no ABS
no power steering (parallel parking was good workout!)
no fuel injector- 2 barrel carburetor
    mechanically-timed ignition with distributor/rotor
    no emissions controls
    no cats
    no AC
    no power locks or windows
stout front bumper (compared to the candy-ass front end of a stock TACO)
extra leafs in back (compared to a TACO... well... you know)
camper top with jalousie windows (I never see those anymore, finally blown off during massive thunderstorm)
    no backup camera
    key entry only
    no tire pressure monitors
    etc.

    R.I.P.

I've had a long line of cars before the Tacoma, but more recently I had an '02 911 C4S and an '04 F-250 Powerstroke. Decided I wanted to get down to just one payment/thing to maintain, and the Tacoma checked most of the boxes for what I needed in a vehicle.

I had a used 2001 S-10, that I bought with around 80k miles on the clock. It left me sitting in a parking lot needing a new fuel pump at about 110,000 miles. Got the new fuel pump installed at a Chevy Dealership, and first fill up gas started gushing out of the top of the tank. Took it back and they said that the bolts where the pump comes out weren't properly tightened, so they tightened them. Everything was fine until my next fill up when more gas started coming out the top of the tank. Took it back a second time and was very angry. They finally put a new seal in and got it to stop leaking gas, but pointed out the severe rust issues underneath including the frame, brake lines, and leaf springs. They said it wouldn't pass the next inspection due to rust issues.

So I traded that biotch in on my 13' Tacoma, and now use Fluid Film by the case since it has been brand new!

2005 Mustang GT (white of course) the pic was taken just a few days before I sold her. She was the down payment on the new Taco. She was fun but I've just never been a, "Car guy" and I've always missed my first gen.

A 17 year old kid got the Mustang. Seemed like a great guy I just hope he takes care of her

1st Gen (2002) Tacoma TRD Off Road Extra Cab 4WD 5 speed.

Bought a 2013 TRD Sport DCLB 4WD. It sucked I couldn't get an Off Road version with manual transmission... don't care for the automatic but had no choice.

I learned to drive on a mustard yellow 77 GMC 1/2 ton with 3 on the tree. The truck was used on the farm and had been ordered with no options. It didn't even have a rear bumper. It was a lot to handle when I was 12. I remember having to grip the wheel with both hands in order to push down the clutch and brake.

I do miss the Mustang but I needed 4 doors and a bed.
