Can the rear view mirror camera be upgraded by software to display like the 2012?

I could be completely wrong, but I'm pretty sure. Anyone in socal have a 2012 they wanna swap and see what happens.

 

Anybody know where I can get a new rear view mirror with the back up camera to replace the one in my 09? Was hauling a long piece of lumber with some shorter pieces on top and when I slowed down the shorter pieces.....well you know, hence the question. Dealer wanted a thousand dollars! Just wondering if anyone new of a cheaper place to get one. Thanks

 

If this were true, then the guys with Entune in their 2012 would have the lines as well, but they don't. The cameras are the same whether you have Entune or not on a 2012.

 

There was a very recent FS thread for a camera and mirror, no wiring. Sounds perfect for you.

There is a few aftermarket ones. I forget who makes them or where to find them, ive seen a youtube video of a salesman demonstrating one, it had a larger screen size also for the camera.

I dont think we need to buy anything, our mirrors have the screen in them already. Someone just needs to figure out the wiring to get the camera feed to go to the mirrior instead of the Entune screen.

 

^^ This! For me, anyway. My former F-150 had the guide lines, and as you said, it was great for back-in parking. It gave me clear indications as to where I was relative to the white stripes in a parking lot. I never had to look anywhere else to ensure I was backing in straight, or with sufficient clearance between adjacent vehicles.

Don't miss the Ford, but I do miss the guide line indicators.

Haha no didnt buy it, mine works cuz ive got ladder racks i clicked on the link that proforce posted and 1 minute later someone pmed the op, looks like it fell through tho.

 

Sub'd, I have a 2012 with Entune, no lines. I kind of wish I could get the option to have the camera in the mirror with the lines too. Or at least get the lines in the Entune screen. This has to be software based, the mirrors are the same for Entune/Non Entune...the mirror is somehow getting told not to display backup cam image and there's gotta be a way to disable that...

 

Before anyone does swapping cameras I think we should check if the plugs in the tailgate are the same.
