I had to hammer out and repaint rear quarter panel after going off rock ledges that forced the exhaust pipe up into the body panel there.

Seems like a good idea to me.

I did this on a 1993 Toyota 4x4 truck, where I mounted a plate to the fender that the exhaust went through totally started to rust, behind it on the edge, I am in Ontario Canada they put salt on the roads. it was completely sealed properly no bare metal. Something to watch out for, I would not do it again. Even though it looked good.

Go for the stack in the bed behind the cab just like the big rigs. I'd spend the cash for better flow. Air intake maybe?
Since were talking exhaust I dont like the Flow master duel the one with the driver side pipe hanging low under the spare tire. Sounds good, looks like crap.

Unlike yourself I have real life stuff to do but since you can't or are unable to see obvious reasons I will spell it out just for you.

Excessive heat on paint causing discoloration and blistering.
Chopping a hole in bodywork voids ANY rust through warranty.
Constant cleaning that no matter how meticulous you are will still discolor.

That's enough just for you. Go back to your bridge.

I don't like it. I think the stock location looks better, but it is your truck so do what you like.

Turn headers up and poke straight through the hood :burnrubber:

What would the purpose be? Personally, I like the ones that are hacked right after they go over the rear axle. It's a clean look because you don't see the exhaust pipe at all and keeps it out of harm's way.

Let me spell some things out for you because you seem to think all people are like you

Discoloration and blistering wont happen if you use the correct flange
I have fiberglass so your warranty is long gone
Being an off road truck I dont care about constant cleaning or discoloring

So maybe you should explain more because not everyone knows what is inside your little head

FWIW, your reasons only apply if some knucklehead just takes a hole saw and stuffs an exhaust pipe through the body panel. If you use a double or triple walled pipe like you should in this application, you won't get bubbling on the paint, the warranty is complete BS, it will only void a rust-thru warranty on that particular area. The only valid point you made was the discoloring which can be avoided with proper care.

That's exactly what i was thinking, how can cutting up your rear panels affect your hood or front quarter panels

Personally I think it looks stupid on a 4 wheel drive truck. But hey it's your preference and what makes you happy. If you care about the appearance I your truck there are a few things that go wrong. Make sure you take your time placing and cutting your hole. Seal up any bare metal if you have a metal boxside still. Absolutely be sure you have the proper heat shields. Even if it seems like the box is only getting 'warm' it will still begin to warp over time(assuming its metal). And lastly, constant cleaning and the understanding there will be a great chance of discoloration, especially on a white truck. If you go through with it make a thread an post pics! Good luck!
