It's pretty cool. We both like to work on them so we get some good garage time when we're both off the same days. Not sure this would be the case for the OP and his wifey... :)

Having two Tacomas sure makes no problem for us.

I'm not sure I'd want two of the same vehicles in my household either. The Taco is great and I love driving mine, but I'm glad to have a nicer riding SUV as well (in my case a Suburban but I have the 3 kids and dogs). I think I would shop around for a leftover 4runner as well - with the internet, you are no longer constrained to shop at your local Toyota dealer. I have made deals on vehicles 1000 miles away (NY to Chicago!).

I am willing to bet you could find either a new (leftover 2011) 4runner or a very very low mileage one for that 32K price. Just my .02.

    None yet! It's new!
We have an '08 FJ and my '09 Tacoma. Pretty much the same drive trains.

They get used for different things of course. The wife is the primary driver of the FJ, as she doesn't do well with a manual transmission, which is in the Tacoma. The dogs ride in the FJ and the Tacoma is a bit nicer inside.... and of course the occasional load of compost goes in the Tacoma bed and not the back of the FJ. :)

No problems. Plus, you can swap wheels/tires around without a lot of problems. I like the FJ alloys on my Tacoma. She likes stock black steel FJ wheels. Works out fine. An extra set of wheels has summer tires mounted. Chains can go on either vehicle (never need them tho), they use the same parts.... plugs, oil filters, bulbs etc. Very handy.

We're in a rural area... having 2 Taco's would kill me. We bought my wife a nice 34MPG vehicle.

TRUE! I've got a 62 mile each way drive to work 4 days a week. I do ride share but it'll burn some gas.
