Tell me about it. I just put $1500 into my BMW last month and the "check engine" light turned on yesterday.

i love the looks of the ram, and they are a great riding vehicle with some nice creature comforts. but for just about all the reasons listed in this thread (better mileage, better reliability, better resale value) you will be really better served with a tacoma. if you don't need the capability of a full size pickup (and the truth is most people don't) you will be really happy with the size of the tacoma.

    good luck with your decision.

    OK fanboy...

Brand loyalty is one thing, brand stupidity is another... I suggest you take a deep breath, become "unsick" and think about what you just said...

It can be hit or miss, one of the trucks I own for my business is a 2004 ram quad cab 1500 hemi. Bought new in 04 has 239k on it now and the Only repair it has needed other than wear items is a new alternator at about 200k. Still runs like new and has been towing 10k lbs almost daily it's whole life. And yeah for your situation I'd get the Tacoma. That's what I have for one of my personal vehicles and I love it.

Coming from an 05 Ram 1500 SLT, to a 12 DCSB OR... Run away from the Dodge as fast as you can! I thought I would miss mine, but I haven't thought about it a single time since I traded. I'd never own another one.

I had the rear end rebuilt TWICE within 9 months due to pinion nut coming off and getting jammed between the ring and pinion gear. Try doing 65 down the interstate and suddenly have your rear end lock up! As soon as the warranty went out, I was at the Toyota dealership looking to trade.

Glad someone had good luck with one. Mine turned into a complete POS after 80k. Practically had to give it away with 110k on it. Had it in for repairs on a monthly basis the last year I had it, even with that, it was going thru a quart of oil every 1000 miles, transmission was acting up, and the c-clips let go in the rear diff. Cut my losses and bought the Tacoma. Have about 72k on it now, was already on the third set of brakes and u-joints on the Dodge. Loved that truck, but never again.

Another troll I'm guessing. Don't come to TW and ask our opinion on a dodge...

Just when I was starting to think this was a good forum. What about my post (and reply's) made me a troll? Did you even read the thread? I'm guessing not.

To everyone else, thank you for your opinions. I'm going to end up with the Tacoma, it really is a better fit.

On another note, the Dodge Quad Cab isn't really big. The back doors a fairly small for a 4 door and leg room isn't the best

I did notice that. I think the back seat in the Tacoma might actually be bigger than the Quad Cab.

I had a 2008 mega cab 3500 diesel with a 6spd before my Tacoma and at 42000 miles it fell apart. The tranny stuck in 3rd gear then the turbo went out and it blew a head gasket. I got all that fixed under warrenty thank god. At 47000 the head gasket blew again and that caused all sorts of problems. I say buy the Tacoma its honestly the best truck for the money but thats my 2 cents. Good Luck!!

I've owned a 2000 ram and 3 tacomas. My dodge was a great truck until it starting failing and failing quick. I dumped it in 3 years with 60k Miles. Way too many problems. I love the tacomas. Unless you need a full size,go with a tacoma

No mud flaps, plasti dipped emblems, and rear bumper, Weather tech digital fit, Bed mat from tractor supply. Pioneer 4400BH head unit. B.A.M.F bed rail tie downs. AVS vent visors.
i would never. my friends dad just got one in november. and on all the crash test it just says “ no rated” none even have 1 star! and he is having all kinds of problems with it already!

edit: the lis of stuff i remember my friend telling me. is it won’t hardly down shift when braking, it 10x more wind noise than his FJC trail team! not just because it’s bigger. it’s coming from the windshield or door seal. it ( i even saw this) weak A$$ head lights! my stock head lights are like 2.5 times brighter! i really do think my LOW beams light up more of the road and ditch than his HIGH beams! really cheap and crapy plastic dash and trim! ( even on the highest end model)
