Need some Guidance

got me a 2011 Taco trd with the stock wheels and tires currently. I want to do a 3 inch lift, I dont do much off roading, But I like the look and this is my new hobby. I have two questions 1) When you install a 3" lift do you need to make your drive line longer? and 2) what is the max diameter tire can be installed without having to do any cutting or trimming? Any input relevant to these questions would be awesome. Thanks.

Welcome to the party!
No need to get a longer drive line.
I would try and stay under 34" tires to minimize rubbing issues.

 

As far as lifts go.......you can go spaced or coilover. Is spend the extra for the coilover lift. OME makes awesome kits. Or you could always go 5100's with your stock springs.

 

You don't need to extend the length of your drive line. Max size tire you can run without trimming is 265/70R17 or I believe 265/75R16. There are some other oddball sizes people have experimented with also but that is probably the most common.

Check out Downsouth Motorsports, Toytec Lifts or Wheelers Offroad for lift ideas. As stated above, you can either go with a spacer lift or a coilover set-up. Depends on your budget and intended.

 

I run 275/65/18s, and the only rubbing i have are in reverse, or when there are 4 big guys in the truck, and i full lock. Of course this pavement only. Off-road, i have definite issues with rubbing on the cab mounts.

 

265/75/R16s will not rub. At least they don't on mine. A full 3 in lift with new ucas and proper backspacing on your wheels would allow 285s but may require some trimming to prevent rubbing. I've heard both ways. Some rub, some don't.
