Portable Basketball Goal Fell on my Truck

So as the thread title says a portable basketball fell on top of the cab of my truck. It put a slight dent and 2 pretty terrible gouges in the paint. While I am not too concerned with the dent I was wondering what I can do for the gouges to prevent the damage from spreading. I dont want it rusting or bubbling my paint or my clear coat on the roof of the cab. Any suggestions? I already have some touch up paint but I didn't know if that would be enough.

Yep, touch up paint.

If they're big enough, use a little primer first, and a couple coats.

One of those fell on my last truck during a windstorm.

 

Wow that sucks. TOuch up paint will only do so much for so long. Especially if it's the stuff I just bought. Looks like its waterborne rather than the laquer I was hoping for. Best solution is to take it to get fixed properly.

However if you're against that fr whatever reason depending on how bad it is, scuff up the area with the some red scotch brite or fine sand paper. Apply your paint. Give it proper curing time between coats. If its waterborne touch up apply your clear coat after. Again wait suggested curing times between coats. And personally I would load on the clear cause it ain't gonna last. Hope that helps a little. Sorry to hear about your shit luck.
