What is the best version of the 2012 Tacoma? I have a 2010 TRD sport 4x4 now. If I were to trade it in, what is the "best" one to get?

5-lug base. Half the price of TRD OR and better MPG. Close thread.

Are you getting the "Best" Tacoma just for bragging rights or for your personal need ?

I currently have the SR5, for what I do the TRD OR package would suit me just fine. TRAC in 4H works great but A-TRAC would be just a bit more assuring.

Only wondering about there being a package that has all the "good stuff". TRD, TX PRO, or another thing I don't know about.

There is not one "best" Package. Other cars have one package that for one reason or another is always referred to as the "best" due to the value, availability, or whatever. In the Tacoma, there are fans of every package. Myself... I like the simplicity of the SR5 - it's got all the niceties without all the fluffed-up overpriced things that if I really want, can get aftermarket for cheaper. I love it :)

I'm kinda in the same boat. I plan to purchase a 2012 or leftover 2011 Tacoma as a replacement for my 99 Tacoma. The SR5 has everything I need but I like the TRD Off Road package, except it only comes as a shortbed. Too many decisions. For me it will probably boil down to what bed length I decide on.

It's give and take on Tacoma's from my experience.... If I was to go back and trade my 2010 in on a 2012 I'd personally go with the SR5 package and maybe upgrade to alloy rims...probably would go aftermarket on those though.

Other things I would do would be the usual upgrades to the trucks you see on here...suspension, tires...the list goes on, but I'd have money left over compared to the 2500 options they chose for me in those packages.

Correct, That is what was meant. Technically there was (1) official shortbed access cab from toyota:cool:

Nah, the color matching looks a bit nicer, to me anyhow. I also believe the Sports ride a bit nicer on the road compared to a Off Road model... How often does one use the AFAP and the Downhill Control honestly... As stated above I think a real locker would be more beneficial if someone needed it.

    Still trying to decide...
Sport for me too, I just wanted it to be capable all round. I use as my daily driver as well as a weekend adventure truck, and as well as a home improvement go getter...
