Adding hasps to a truck box

Well... I don't want all my recovery gear and junk stolen out of my betterbuilt kobalt box. It has a lock on one side but the other side doesn't even lock, you can pull up the one side and either push the lock over with a yard stick or just pry it open I'm sure.

I'm thinking of adding hasps on both sides of the box for small padlocks.

It'll look like shit but short of an expensive box I think it's the best option.

I figure aluminum rivets should be strong enough, any opinions? I think they look cleaner than bolts and they won't loosen and they won't rust. Plus I have a bunch and I'd have to buy nuts and bolts.

Opinions?

i saw a guy driving down the road that had those on one side of his box and really it didnt look all that bad. i mean it didnt look stock but then again it wanst. but as far as aluminum rivets im not sure ive used them for many things but ive never tested them to see if i could break one off trying to gain access to anything. but im sure someone on here has!

Get a hasp that folds over on it's self so the mounting hardware can't be drilled out. If you use rivets, back the pull side up with small washers.
Spend some money for a good solid lock. Just my $.02 and that should do it.

these guys are talking about using rivets to hold on a shock so i think if its strong enough to hold up to that stress (a steel one apparently is best) then id be willing to say it would hold up to a screwdriver prying up on it at least. just food for thought
