Instead of a tow ball, shackle instead.

I went to Princes Auto and they didn't even have shackles. They had tow balls everywhere lol. It looks like I am going to order from online if I'm not able to find a local shop that carries them. Oh well, I know I will get one.

If they have it on .com could I get it on .ca? How is the shipping to when it comes to parts like this? Is it expensive?

Pulling people or being pulled from ditches. Other truck to strap applications like dragging logs around for firewood stuff etc would work as well.

PA here has shackles, tons of them. But watch their weight rating, I found they were low for their size (weaker steel?) that's why I went with ARB. They were about $8 each and I only bought two.

    Receiver hitch/shackle:

They have all sizes and weight ratings. Just search "shackle"

I not sure if it really matters but as some have mentioned there are "solid metal" hitch/shackle combos which I felt more comfortable with. I always run with it unless I am towing the boat.

This is the one I got- both are solid steel hitches... seem very simular?

They are very similar, I leaned to the CSI one because several people mentioned in their review that the smittybuilt was a loose fit and rattles a bit. Nothing some plastic or cedar shims wouldn't fix ... but meh.

3'' lift with 33'' tires and a high lift jack thats all rite now
I made mine for free from stuff i got from work.

I took a old hitch ball and cut the ball plate off and used the square tube as the main part on this. I then welded a 1/4'' 2x2 plate to the end of the hitch shaft. Got 2 5/8 eyes we use at work for our base plates for our tents welded those to the 1/4'' plate then i wraped the whole thing with 3/16'' strap. The actual shackle is 1'' pin its about 5'' big. I welded up the shackle pin so no one can take the chackle. I didnt have it powder coated because i want a option to touch it up when it gets fucked up.

Mine is nice and short and the hoop part barely sticks out past the receiver at all. I've pulled people out with it several times, no problem.
