I have a 2012 double cab ling bed taco (pre-runner, sr5) (second one first one was an 05) and pressed the traction button near the mirror adjusters and the "AUTO LSD" light came on my dash.. does this mean my truck is equipped with an LSD? i thought only sport models had this...

#1 - Read your Owner's Manual. It will tell you what all those buttons do and what the lights mean.

#2 - It's auto LSD, not mechanical like the 2005 - 2008 TRD Sport models had. The current system uses the brakes to make an open differential mimic a limited slip differential. You have an open differential with an added electronic system. I guess you could say that you do have limited slip, sort of...

Here's what I have gleaned from the mega postings on this subject. Anyone feel free to correct:

Vehicle Stability Systems [for those WITHOUT a rear locker]

Both front [on 4WD] and rear are open differentials.

Traction Control [applies braking and limits torque] is the default.

Pressing Traction Contol Off button turns on Auto LSD [applies braking but NO torque limiting.] When stopped, pressing and holding Traction Control Off button turns both Traction Control and Auto LSD off. Traction Control automatically goes back on at 30 mph.

Both are functional in 4WD HIGH.
Neither are functional in 4WD LOW [to be confirmed.]

yeah i hate this new electronic LSD. i really liked the mechanical one like i had in my 05 X-Runner. i hate this one in my 11' X-Runner. it makes it alot harder to have fun. one tire fires are not cool :p
