first oil change coming up !!!

I have my first oil change coming up on my first tacoma i have ever owned and im very curious about what type of oil and oil filter i need to use. I know im gonna go to a fully synthetic oil but i have no idea what brand to use. Im thinking 10W-30 since i live where it is moderate whether all year. Any help on this would be great im still learning a lot about my new tacoma.

 

You should get free oil changes from any toyota dealershi for your firs 2yrs/20,000mi

i know i get the free changes but i wanted to make sure im getting the best oil for my truck not just some standard they use on anything and i didnt realize they used their own oil i thought it was just a deal where i buy the oil and they change it for me. that changes it if its all on them

 

On my second oil change I plan on switching to synthetic. I'm going to try Mobil one Extended Performance 5-30 with the OEM filter.

 

Why do you assume that Toyota oil is somehow inferior to other aftermarket brands? If you want synthetic oil, ask for it when you go in to the dealer for your oil change. The upcharge for me was about $35. Yep, pretty steep, but I also want high quality oil and I believe Toyota oil to be good stuff.

 

its not that i thought it was inferior i just had no idea i could opt for fully synthetic oil through them but now that i know i will be otping for it over the regular

 

Toyota's oil is produced by Mobil.

The best oil filter you can use is the Toyota filter. There have been tests done on almost any filter you can buy, you can find the thread if you search.

 

Must be my 4cyl... I get 5k synthetic oil change free of charge.

 

I plan to opt into the fully synthetic as well. Thats not for another... almost 4k miles for me but i've been a little apprehensive about it. I hope it turns out to be a trouble-free experience...

 

the dealership will have the best oil for you, it's either toyota stuff or something toyota trusts. I wouldn't worry about what oil to run til you run out of free stuff.

Just because you get it changed at a Toyota does not mean they use Toyota oil.The dealer I go to uses Pennzoil.Get the free oil but ask them what it is so you can continue with that brand or get your Synthetic and take it with you so they can use it.Six quarts of synthetic at wal-mart is cheaper than paying the upgrade.I think any brand synthetic is good.Some better than others but in the life of your engine I dought you will see any difference.I plan on using Pennzoil Platinum 5W30 in my V6 my first oil change.Mobil 1 is just as good and Amzoil is probally the best if you don't mind paying the price.

 

I've seen them use Castrol, Mobil, and at my work we have pennzoil platinum and that crap.

 

i wouldn't some honda containers say Castrol or Mobil, i cant remember.

 

So if Honda does it, why wouldn't Toyota, or nissan, or ford, or chevy?

 

Who said it had to be mobil one, and actually i have seen some camrys come with a mobil 1 on the oil cap i do believe.

What? Mobil 1 is the oil. they don't just sell mobil.

 

the 1 stands for synthetic. if the dealership using synethetic blend like my company does it would be mobil 1, either way mobil is mobil
