What do you do when you come across a street sign on the roadside?

Seriously, I'm looking for your help in making a F.O.R.D. Skid plate (found on road side discarded). I've gotten little help from Search on Homemade skid plates, and hoping the Great Hive Mind on TW could point me towards a plan or drawing with measurements for making a skid from a street sign.
I don't do any rock-crawling or major 4wheeling, just rough dirt roads and light 4x4, so I don't need grown-up protection.
If anyone can point me towards info on measurements, pics, installation etc it'd be much appreciated.
I've got plans on doing one for my Subie Impreza wagon, but wondering about Taco, too
The sign I found...ahem the signs I liberated, are: 2 of 24"x24", 1 each of 12"x24" and 24"x36". I assume they're standard thickness, and can be bolted together if needed.
If anyone has any other DIY ideas for street signs, pass them on!
BTW my Taco is a 2010 AC, manual base model.

thanks in advance for your help - if this happens, there will be pics!

well, assuming its standard crap steel, it does not bend nice, and likes to crack, unless you use a legit bender. which would make everything easy.

Heh, I figured it's not choice material...
But I'm gonna try anyway - I could buy for real, but where's the headache in that?
    Cheers
