    yeah, try the detailing section..

    but, to answer:

    1) use a "car wash" soap, since they won't contain degreasers which strip wax (hand/dish soap will strip wax)

    2) i use a mequires liquid wax

    3) i use a couple large microfiber cloths to dry..

Depends on how detailed I wanna go...

    usually, spray down
then a car wash soap (Usually I use zymol's wash)
    rinse
    clay bar
wax (Zymol creame can't be beat IMO)

usually once a month for me, wash every 2 weeks.

Salt here is nasty, so I wash more than most

    same shit as everyone else
Wash it once a month and put some Turtle Wax Ice on it. Then every six months i'll do a good wax with some zymol wax. Every summer i've done a good clay bar too.

I thought Tacomas were supposed to be dirty! It's a pickup truck, not a poodle with running lights :D

Ok, ok. I like to keep my paint looking nice. I work on oil drilling rigs and you wouldn't believe the crap that gets on your truck and how hard it is to wash off! Drilling fluid is really nasty stuff. I wash my Tacoma whenever I'm off work for a few days, weather permitting. So usually every 2-3 weeks. And it's a major undertaking.

Up thread it was mentioned that it's best to use something without a degreaser, but given that my truck is constantly covered in a fine layer of diesel (they use diesel is pressure wands to clean the rig, and of course it sort of rains down all over everything) it sometimes is unavoidable. Do I need to wax every time I have to do that?

I wash it weather permitting. If I see we're getting 4-5 days of no rain, I wash. Every 3 or 4 washes I clean the underbody with pressure washer. Trust me, it's worth it. You'll never see an 06 underbody look like mine. And wax twice a year.

I probably hand clean mine once a month when I do I'll use Meguires Gold car wash, Meguires quick wax, and bleech-white for the tires. To clean the under carriage I just go to a local car wash that has an under carriage cleaner they charge me 5 bucks but it sprays most of the underside and soaps it down then rinses it off.

What the hell are these clay bar things? I have seen on the TV but it looks like a rock? I don't like rubbing rocks on the top of my trucks paint. Is it like a polishing compound?

It's like a ball of wax, you work it around the paint and it'll pick up heat and little pieces of dirt that washing left behind and fills in the imperfections in the paint.

I dont use wash with wax in one. Having a black truck i get spots after wash. Wife thinks im crazy but i use my leaf blower to dry it. ( no more microfiber towels) comes out flawless. Schwing.........

I usually try to wash her once every couple weeks, some time once a week depending on how dirty it is... if I go wheelin or up to the mountain....

I use a maguires quick wax every couple of wash's, and a liquid wax about twice a year...

Think of it more like playdoh, its a synthetic clay used to remove surface contaminants embedded in the paint.

You use lube (Spray bottle w/ water and a few drops of car soap) and gently slide the clay along the surface of the paint after washing. It will remove paint over spray, rail dust, etc. It does NOT fill the paint, add protection to the paint or anything. Simply just cleans the surface.

-Wash at least every other week. Use spray detailer after every wash
-Wax every three months, collinite 845
-Polish/Seal the paint every six months before applying wax, Optiseal sealant and Meguiars/Mothers/Griots machine polish with random orbital
-Clay bar every spring before the polish/seal/wax.

This process leaves the water beading up year round, keeps muck from building up and keeps the paint looking clean and "deep"

since I got my pro comp 3" and I don't have running boards to climb onto to wash and just plain lazy to stand on the bed to wash the roof, I take it to the touchless car wash. $6.00 well spent IMO.
