Yep. And that duct tape came in real handy when we couldn't drill the holes for the shackles... :D

Did you need the backplates for these also? How were they mounted?

The kit came with backplates - but they aren't needed. The Undercover frame is very thick.

Here's some crappy cell phone pics of the shackle mounts on the frame

Fuckin' awesome! I have been planning to get undercover mount for a while now. You just solidified my plans. I hope you don't mind if I "borrow" you innovative idea to install the shackle mounts as well.+1 for you bud!

Ha! Borrow away. I've done plenty of borrowing myself on several other things, so I don't mind giving back a little :)

Thanks, that's what TW is for! Sharing your knowledge, experience, and know-how with the rest of us privileged owners. In case you run out of mod ideas, here's a write-up I did for heated side mirrors. I don't know what the weather is like in your neck o' the woods, but it is mighty convenient up here in the Pacific Northwest!

I may actually use this! Very annoying when the mirrors take half way to work to finally clear up......

    thanks!

I am really liking the shackles. Looks like the shackles are about $120. How much was the mounting plate? I was thinking that would be a nice cheap mod to do the shackle/plate until I could afford the winch its self. Now I am wishing I saved my winch off my old Jeep.

I pulled the wire rope off the winch (Warn M8000) as soon as we bolted the mount to the truck, and replaced with synthetic. I did this mainly because I wanted the fairlead to be as small and un-obtrusive (is that a word?) as possible. Unfortunately - those are all the pics I have.

The Undercoverhwms was $400. Not cheap certainly - but the heft and quality of it makes it very clear that $400 is a very good value.

Badass setup! I'm digging this one A LOT! Wondered how I might toss a winch on mine at some point and now I know.

I would check to see if Undercoverhwms could just weld some mounts onto the frame as an option. If so, he could make it stick out further so you wouldn't need to cut out so much of the fender like I had to. Plus, drilling 8 half inch holes in that thing was a bear (especially with Chinese drill bits from Harbor Freight!).

Maybe adding a 1/2" or 1" spacer bolted in behind the D-ring mount would be enough. That's something most guys could fab and install themselves.
