Redline is sold directly or through their dealer network, this link is for "find a dealer"
    http://www.redlineoil.com/dealers.aspx

Changing it is fairly easy, I saw a how-to when I searched the other day. It's basically find the fill plug, open it, then find the drain plug and open it. Drain, replace. Then fill until some drips out, clean exterior and replace plug (from what I gathered anyway).

Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.

you are the first person other than myself i have seen complain of it. Its so bad that with a heavy load (like backing the trailer up the hill into a parking spot) you have two choices, smoke the clutch or shift into low (and then being 4wd it binds) parking etc it never bothers me as the clutch is pretty forgiving (ive driven ceramic and dual stage etc heavy clutches for years) so to me its pretty soft, the gf still says its too heavy.

This is the only place that the 2008 access cab 4cyl 5spd 4x4 did better in general that my 2013 access cab 6cyl 6spd.

I love it otherwise, and im just hoping i dont have repeated throwout bearing failure before the clutch wears out. I got tired of replacing the TOB on my 2008

My 2013 was awkwardly tight when i got it and it cleared up pretty quick. probably between 1000-2000 miles

i didnt question it as it felt to me like some old yota trans after being rebuilt and now its not nearly as bad at 7500 miles.

It still wont shift fast like some but driven like a truck tranny it feels perfectly normal

The gear mesh noise is pretty rough in places like the drive through at mcnasty and the clutch chatters more than other OEM ones i have driven but not anything that seems concerning (most of my older rides have had heavy or other material clutches that chatter)

I got an update notice saw my old post was quoted. For follow up, I never did go to Redline fluid, and the trans began to fail badly at 5000miles. It started popping out of gear when accelerating from a stop up a hill and when lifting. I theorize the drive line vibration (mine was bad) may have contributed to this prob. Toyota was forced to buy my Tacoma back after they refused to address the driveshaft vibration and trans probs saying "there wasn't one, and that the vehicle operates normally". Here's one of the vid's I recorded for my arbitration hearing:

The previous owner had the transmission completely lock up so he couldn't move the shifter out of the gear it was in and he had to get it towed to the dealer where they replaced the transmission under warranty. He lived in California at that point and moved back up to Canada

I've had no issues other than the squeak that I've just gotten used to at this point. I tried WD-40 on the clutch pedal and it worked for a while but the squeak came back.

Guys, i have 80K on my 07, the gearbox has been out of it once, for the TSB on the throwout bearing, at the time i asked if i should put a new disk in, i knew the tech, we pulled a new disk, measured it, and it was .050 difference avg between my 48K disk and a new disk, so he proved to me that i did not need to spend the $$ on a new disk, then he told be they did one that had 72K on it the disk was flawless, so far i have pulled boats out of ramps etc, i do that in 4Lo to creep and not have to burn the clutch to pull. However the performance of my 6spd compared to my 4R(06 wife's ride) is typical, the Taco is the race car and the 4R is the sedan. I can give you better info on the way it drives if you put your foot in it but pm me, I got blasted once already for talking about driving over the speed limit. (yes WOW!!) However I LOVE my 6spd, and if i was to go by a new truck tomorrow, it would be a 13-14 6spd Taco. They run very nicely, 4X4 of course. if you want to drive a really nice performer go drive an Xrunner. If i can squeeze it, no pun intended, i want a blower from Santa this year....

My tocoma has 160k miles. Clutch when out @150k Front breaks out at 160K
Drive Shaft out @ 160K Those are my stats for 6 speed standard 2007 Tocoma. Oh' and front wheel bearings went out at 50K that was my only real disapointment in my truck

Another thread revival here to see if anyone wants to provide a mileage update. I just purchased a used 2006 TRD Sport 6-speed with 101k miles, and the previous owner brought to my attention the crunchy 3rd gear synchro. I still bought it, since it was a minor issue, and in fact my last Tacoma was a 99 4cyl 5 speed that had a similarly crunchy 4th gear.

The issues on both only came up when you shift pretty quickly, and don't quite rev match perfectly. On my 06, surprisingly, when I floor it close to redline and shift quickly from 2nd to 3rd, it doesn't grind at all. But when shifting quickly at lower rpms, you can grind it if you're not careful. I quickly learned how to avoid it, as the previous owner also did. He said he brought it to 3 separate mechanics, and they all concluded it wasn't worth the hassle to take it apart right now, as that would cause more headache than it was worth.

My 99 5 speed was the opposite - it would grind when you get high in the rpms, but would never grind in normal driving. I also chose to ignore it since I didn't think a tranny overhaul was worth it.

Overall, I don't quite understand the complaints with the "sloppiness" of the 6 speed, since in comparison with my 99, it feels very sporty - shorter throws, really sucks you into gear, easy to rev match. But then again, the only manual cars I've driven are my 99 and an old Ford Escort.

The biggest complaint I have is how close the gears are - you get out of 1st almost immediately, and 6th gear revs really high on the freeway. But I suppose Toyota marketed the 6 for a more sporty feel, I guess?

Anyways, I'm at 101,000 miles, with a new clutch (according to the previous owner), and have an iffy 3rd gear synchro, but otherwise the 6 speed is holding up.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
I wouldn't own a 6 speed personally, I currently own a 4 cylinder 5 speed right now and shifting these trucks around all day gets old. But, I haven't heard of any serious issues with the 6 speed other than it is really clunky and the gas mileage sucks on them. Me, I am going to sell mine and get a double cab with the 5 speed auto and be done with shifting.

True, the vast majority of drivers are tired of shifting, which is one reason why the manual transmission is dying, but there are still some enthusiasts such as myself who prefer shifting.

One good thing I've found with the closeness of the 6 speed and torque of the v6 is that you can really drive around only shifting through 4 gears. If I feel lazy, I'll shift from 1-2-4-6.

I love shifting too, just not in a daily driver.

Most of the 6 spd's perceived issues are the operators not the trans. 53K on mine and I have no complaints and I tow a camper too. There is a slight learning curve if all you have driven was a 5 spd but that's about it.

Love my 6spd. Check out the short shifter options, the Hurst shifter makes it even more fun, and easier to shift on the trail.
