Put in a new head unit in my 2007 Tacoma Today. There were a bunch of wires left over, including a full plug that was connected to the OEM stereo- am I missing anything by not having that hooked up?

My new head unit is a clarion CX501, here are a few pics:

no, that plug is factory standard. if it sounds good, jam it. you must be in europe, can't park in the streets here in the states. please tell me if the tacomas in europe come with the parking blinker overnight lights?

Thanks! Glad to hear that the excess wires aren't an issue. Not in Europe, I'm just parked on the left side of a one way street in DC.

What make of faceplate did you use? Any issues with the fit-and-finish with the Clarion unit?

I used the metra black faceplate, wanted to be able to use the factory mounting brackets and didn't like the idea of having the black head unit mounted in a silver panel.

The clarion unit is great, no issues with the finish. There were a ton of extra wires in the back so it took a little work to get them all to fit behind the unit but once everything was in it was perfect.

I'm narrowing down my selection and it's between this Clarion and a JVC unit. Do the steering wheel controls work with the Clarion or did you have to buy an extra accessory connector?

I really like the Clarion. It looks, works, and sounds awesome.

I don't have steering wheel controls on my truck, but I'm under the impression that if I did I would have had to buy an extra adapter to make them work with any aftermarket head unit.

Very nice! May have to consider the clarion to replace my stock head unit.

Could you post a daytime photo, please? I've been thinking about purchasing this stereo. I like how you used the black dash adapter.

    Thanks!
