Is it just in the control stalk or is there more to it? I have a base model 4x4 reg cab 4cyl and only have two speed wipers. Didn't realize how annoying this would be until it was snowing.

Yes, normally I use it, except I just bought the truck today and it was snowing on the way home. Stopped and bought new wiper blades, but couldn't apply the rainx to it.

    It works very well.

I recommend Rain Clear gel over Rain-x. It lasts a lot longer. It can be a pain to apply because if you use too much, it will smear. It is very effective. I use it on all windows and mirrors. Snow flakes just slide off the glass. :)

You could also use rain clear or rain x and also use rain-x windshield cleaner. It helps keep slick. It cleans pretty well, too.

Is there an intermittent wiper for a first gen?

    Same question as the OP.
I have a 2012 Tacoma that has the Convince package; I'm finding it wholly Inconvenient not having intermittent wipers.

Can this be remedied by adding the intermittent wiper switch to the steering column?

ebay, the part swaps right in place of the non-intermittant wiper. Very simple swap.
