I see there is a seller on here who has the newer 3.5 LCD mirror which have the homelink buttons on them. I have an 09' with the 2.5 lcd camera, can I purchase the newer unit and expect it to be plug and play?

If you are talking about a mirror with 2012 capatibility, I would think that the answer is no. The 2012 pulled the temp/comp function into the mirror, in order to do that it needs access to an ecu line, which the pre-12 does not have.

I thought I read that the plugs are the same. The compass and temp don't work and the Homelink needs a power source spliced in.

Thanks, Yes I was talking about the 2012 mirror with compass and temp function, sounds like plug is same but power splice for homelink, and no temp or compass which would leave me with a empty square in the upper right corner not working. Doesn't seem like its worth the extra cash and hassle for an extra inch of screen and a garage remote!

I believe that the compass will work as that "intelligence" is internal to the mirror. The temp on the other hand comes from the ECU bus.
