chip for HP?

does anyone got a chip for horse power? ive been looking at some but they seem unreal. my friends have one on his RAM that gives him 25 more hp. and idk if it would work on a 5 speed. more info on this subject would be nice.

 

there is no chip for HP for 2nd gen tacoma. Closest thing is URD MAF calibrator

Just out of curiousity, what chip does your buddy have in his Ram that gives him 25 HP? Is that verified gains or butt dyno claims

 

For American trucks the "chip" style tunes are nuts. Example: Edge Evolution on a 6.0L Diesel, on performance tune 98 peak HP and 300 peak TQ gains! Thats nutz

 

well apparently some guy dyno it and it did increase horse power..its called a SuperChip

 

Diesel chips I know are crazy. My dad has the Bullydog chip in his Duramax. It actually runs quieter and gets better MPG's when in standard mode and will roast the tires for days when in extreme mode.

I just don't know what the chips do for the gas powered V8's.

 

Diesel chips help a lot gas not much.

 

For gas they arent that significant but do provide the best bang for the buck if you compare it to intakes and exhausts. I guess the CAN bus on the tacoma shoots too much info, too many times, and too quick which is why you cant chip the Tacoma.

Bullydog chips are awesome we have one on the cummins Ram on the farm and it's sick.

If you want HP you need a hemi or ls1. If your not going to put up then shut up. Chips are useless for a 4.0 or smaller engines.

 

I've heard those little turbine exhaust tips really boost HP, especially when run with fuel line magnets to align the gas molecules.

 

I love how the pic claims +200HP and +45MPG, yet the text says +45HP and +2-3MPG.

I almost feel sorry for the idiots who buy those ebay tuner chips. But then I realize you'd have to be pretty damn stupid to think a $24 mod will give you an extra 200HP and 45MPG.

 

I suspect the MAF tuning is over most people's head. People want plug and play, but there really are no magic bullets. I don't believe any performance claims without a dyno sheet. Gadget is a stand up guy. He gives the conditions of his tests and doesn't hide important data. I find his work very credible.

 

Just realize you have a 4 banger... deck plate mod and charcoal filter removal for cheap/relatively easy gains.

 

Just upgrade your muffler bearings to unobtainium ones. Its been dynoed to give you 43.7 more horse power and 37 more torque over stock. Plus your muffler will run 52 degrees cooler and last 3 times as long. And the best thing from this mod is you will always get 35 MPG city and hwy. And all this on 85 octane gas.

 

Well shucks...

Even on a 2nd Gen, it'd still probably have better results than a chip though
