Bed adjustment towards rear to center the axle.

Can the bed be adjusted towards the rear to center the tires inside the wheel wells better? Ive never tried loosening the bed bolts before to see how much they can move.

 

i really doubt it , you would need to fab new mounts, then move the gas fill line, brake cable brackets....

 

my mistake i thought the brackets for the rear brake cable was connected to the bed, i assume its actually the frame.

and i dont think hes looking for 1/4 to 1/2 inch, its not nearly enough to center the tires in the wheel wells

 

I'm pretty sure I remember reading chris4x4 say that it can be done. Just loosen the bolts and see what happens from there! Let me know how it works out, mine needs to be done too. The gap between the cab and bed is different on each side

 

Thanks for the replies! Even if its half an inch itd help out! Im moving up to 34s and my 285s are already too close towards the rear.

 

Ya I'm on 35's and even with the fenders off I can hit the back of the opening when flexing. I have a set of relocation brackets on the way (thanks to ^^your^^ recommendation in a different thread) so hopefully those work! If not Ill have to see if I can move the bed to get them centered better. Never would have thought you could do this so I'm glad I saw this thread.

OP I just picked up a set of brackets for $22 plus $11 shipping and you can adjust your rear wheels 3/4 or 1 inch. This might help you clear the 34's..

Yeah I though about the axle relocator plates but I have shims, lift block and AP leafs. I find that moving the bed might be an easier solution. lmk how it works out though.

How did the plates work out? I moved the bed but I was only able to adjust it maybe 1/4" so didnt really help. Its still touching the rear when its stuffed.
I wonder if anyone has drilled another hole on their lift blocks instead of adding the relocation plates.

These are my old 33s. With 34 mudders, it got even worse.

 

I've go the plates but still haven't had a chance to put them on, I'm waiting for my locker to come in so I can do it all at once. I'll post up some pics once I get it all together though. Locker was supposed to ship out today so maybe by next weekend it'll all be here.
