I really want some FN BFD's with 285/65-18 Trail Grapplers, but I guess I'll need a lift to fit them and then a lift and wheels won't look right without some gnarly sliders to match. At least that's what I tell the wifey.

    Lol...

On a serious note, I would get recovery gear whether you do any offloading or not...tow straps are cheap @$15 for a 25ft strap. No metal ends. Come alongside are also useful of you don't have a winch...

    I wasn't kidding. I'd never have bought a truck if it didn't have 4x4.
4x4 is a mush have item on my rig.

    Hell yes!

I need 4x4 for snow, you don't deal with too much of that in SoCal, so I can see where it's unnecessary. :D

Come to Canada with your 4x2 and see how far you get...

You live in Cali...4x2 is all you need. I have snow 9 months of the year. :p

I have snow....like 3 days out of the year, if I'm lucky.

But I go up to the mountains all the time, and it's nice to have that piece of mind. :D
