2012 -off road package vs. sport package???

i recently ordered a tacoma doublecab with the sport package. the dealer offered me one with the offroad package instead(he has one in stock). i like the looks of the hood scoop on the sport. he would sell me the offroad package for the same price as the sport. what are the major differences and are they really worth worrying about? what would you do?

TRD Sport rides better on pavement and has the monochromatic look, TRD Offroad has the rear locker and chrome, as well as unpainted door handles and mirrors...what's more important to you?

 

Don't forget A-TRAC, Shocks, tires and skids with the OFF ROAD compared to the Sport.

 

Sport should cost more than an Off Road package. Sport has color matched bumpers, mirrors with integrated turn signal and a hood scoop. That Kook is trying to rip you!

 

Rims and tires are another difference between the two, sport has more of a street tire. Sport also has a painted rear bumper along with door handles, grille and mirrors as mentioned above. Some sports i looked at also had signals in the mirrors. I spent time decided which one i liked more as well and ended up with the TRD off road just suited my needs better.

off road is 500 bucks more if i can remember. i personally dont like the sport, but its all personal preference.

 

I have a sport. But making into the off road pretty much skid plates got the off road suspension for it I would have gotten the off road but couldn't find one

 

I would get the off road if you plan I'm getting it. I paid more then the difference to add on the stuff you would get with it. And I got parts at cost and did lots myself

 

Get him to swap hoods and get the Offroad package if you want the short box

what is the A-trac? i found out the offroad pck is about $400 more than the sport. i really just like the hood scoop, but if he'll give me a better deal on an offroad with more options i should probably take it

right... i agree... i just like the hood scoop, but for what you get , i think i might get the offroad. thanks!

 

I don't like how limited you are with the locker on the off road, A-Trac means nothing to me since I would rather have complete control off road, and stock skids tend to suck and get replaced anyway, so getting monochromatic appearance, turn signal in the mirrors and better on road ride was worth more to me...

I wanted the DCLB. So sport was the only way to go. I like the ride better than myold 07 DCSB Off Road.
