I was curious if anyone has an idea of what exactly was modified on the 2012 exterior. Was it just the headlights, grill, and bumper?

If so, there should be some aftermarket parts coming out soon to make the conversion I would think. They did the same thing when chevy changed their grill and headlights from 94 to 95. Then I wouldn't feel the need to buy a newer truck for a while longer. (My truck would still look like the newest model)

I haven't seen a post on this yet. I may have missed it though.
    Any thoughts on this?

Not certain, but the front fenders may be different as well to accomodate the new headlights.

Regardless, It'd be cheaper to turn a 05-11 into looking like a '12 rather than buying a whole new truck out right....am I wrong?

I see where the OP is coming from...some people like the look of the '12s more...I'm not one of em though

These guys did it. This is a 2007, but I imagine it would be pricey.

from what ive seen and heard, youre going to need:

    front bumper
    hood
    headlights
    grill

the front fender as "supposedly" the same still

oh and obviously all the front clips to hold everything together...

think it may be cheaper in the long run just to trade it in on a ’12.

i like the ’12 front’s! i want the side mirrors. thats one mod i have on my list. and i’ll wire up the turn signals and mod for defrost. :D

2012's aren't all that, are they? I don't think you can just bolt on a new grill and headlights. You'll probably be grafting some sheet metal. And in the end, you probably won't get anything more for it, as I doubt it'd be easy to undo like a simple mod. Isn't the rumor that the '12's are just a temp change and that a more fully revised Taco is coming in 2013? Just let that temp you to not bother faking a 2012?

It's probably cheaper to convert the back end to a 2012.

When are you folks gonna realize that s its not your truck the mods or changes are being made to? If you think its pointless, then GTFO of the thread. If you want to help the OP, then Help.

Fenders look the same to me.

Looks like the headlight support brace was beefed up. (Black stamped steel pic in the photo, note truck is red.)

Conversion to the 2012 front end is in my long-term plan. Won't make a move at least until aftermarket parts become available (projector headlights, carbon hood).

    Yup.

Looks to me like fenders, hood, mirrors, bumper, grille, lights. I wonder about the core support. That would make it harder if they changed that.

How far are you going to take this? Would need a dash upgrade and steering wheel, stereo, etc to totally pull it off. Plus change the paint to a 2012 color.
