Brake light out

I was at a friends house yesterday and found out my rear passenger side taillight doesn't work when you press the brakes. The driver lights up, the passenger doesn't do a damn thing. In my ingeniousness I turned on the headlights to see if the taillight will light up with those, and it did. But still when I press the brake the amount of light don't change (its supposed to get brighter). Any ideas whats wrong?

Also, can't I get ticketed for having a brake light out? I really can't afford a ticket right now.

I don't know about Florida law, but in Alabama you can't get a ticket until you have all three brake lights out.

You just need a new bulb in your tail light. Check the owners manual for instructions on how to replace it. The brake light doesn't actually get brighter... a different bulb lights up when you press the brakes. That's the bulb that went bad on your truck.

I have no idea what one of those costs, but you could call your dealership, then compare that price to a parts stores between your house and the dealership. Do the install yourself. You just take off two bolts and the whole light assembly comes off.

the filament for your marker light is still fine but your brake light filament is probably burnt out. taillights are like two lights in one.
