I never saw a need for heated mirrors here in SoCal, but I had them on my '06 Silverado, and wow... the first damp/foggy morning I was amazed at how fast they cleared without having to wipe them down.

The joys of living in the North East, granted it wasn't much of a winter. Middle of March and it was almost 70 degrees here today.

I keep wanting to do this, but wondering about the pinouts (and compatible connectors... I'd hate to lop the factory connectors and go with Molex)

Definitely keep this thread updated. I've been waiting for the 4Runner mirrors to come down in price. Interested in hearing about the quality of these. $200 is quite doable. Personally I am more interested in the turn signals vs. the heated part, but that's cuz of where I live.

Cool mod, but mine is an RC Base... no power anything, so my main purpose would be to get power.
As long as I'm spending money on power, I may as well add heat and the signals... plus the puddle lights on the 4-runner are a great idea. Just tie them in with the dome light/alarm.

Got my new mirrors mounted last week.

I've run the wiring out of the the door panels and down to the kicks, but don't have the heat/signal/puddle wired up yet.

No issues with the quality of the mirrors, they look as good as OEM to me. The gloss black finish on the back of the mirror is close enough to my BSP, that I'm not worried about painting them.

I'll let the pictures speak for themselves, and will update again once they are all hooked up. This thread has a lot of good info for hooking them up in case anyone else is interested in doing this.....http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2n...nal-approach-lighting-power-fold-yes-wip.html

Any idea on what it would take to get these heated? Do you all think this mod would work here as well: http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-tacomas/15958-el-cheapo-heated-mirrors.html ?

They have a heated version as well. Search "towing mirrors" on their web site under your Taco year to see all options.

+1, a useless mod in my opinion but I guess some people just like to be different. I put this up there with taillight covers and fake fender vents.

    sort of...
i bought a set of the Chinese knock off sport mirrors from parts geek. they were complete junk and i GAVE them away after purchasing real ones from Toyota. having said that... the guy who i gave the mirrors to, took the mirrors apart from parts geek, and retrofitted the signal assembly and sport cover to his existing base level mirrors.

i noticed when i took my stock mirrors apart, that they used the same frames as the sport mirrors. you could mount the signal assembly to them as they are already set up to accept the assembly and the sport cover. running the wires will require you to break down the entire mirror which i dont think is that big a deal.

as an aside, the pair of knockoff sport mirrors weighed about 2 or 3 pounds less than the OEM ones, and shook like hell on the highway.
