Rear Differential Lock

So I had a question about the rear lock. If you do the mod where you can use the lock in 4Hi, are you still limited to 5-10kms/h while driving? Do they just want you driving that slow because it transforms the steering into that of an oil tanker?

Case in point, say you were sand running and had the lock with 4Hi activated. Is it going to ruin something if you're doing say 50km/h?

I know with 4Lo you're not supposed to exceed 30-40km/h because the engine speed is increased 2-3 fold.

 

No. You just need to be going under 5mph to engage the locker. Once it's activated/engaged you can go as fast as you'd like... but most of the time, if you can go 15mph+ on said terrain, you probably don't need to be "locked" anyway, unless you're just using it to spin brodies or get it sideways around turns.

And yeah, don't drive fast in 4lo.

 

Are you still under warrantee?

I've be VERY CAREFUL about the locker mod. If you ruin something - they won't cover it because you've modified the mechanical safety features.

Like nvdeserted said - if you're going that fast, you shouldn't need the locker anyway.

 

I'm just more worried about revving the engine, having the tires spin to a theoretical 50-80km/h and have something break on me because it's not meant to be spinning that fast.

 

keep it off pavement, concrete and you'll be fine.
