The only way that your warranty would be effected if your modification affected something that was OEM. If they(dealer) installed your aftermarket exhaust then it could be under warranty. Since that you're getting it installed by someone who's none dealer they won't warranty it, if it malfunctions. If your exhaust made some part of the OEM equipment fail then it would void that part of the warranty(they would have to prove it though). They can not void a suspension warranty because you have an aftermarket exhaust for example. You're going to be fine, mod away my friend, mod away.

A dealer can not warranty a non-OEM part under the original truck warranty. The manufacturer will have a field day on his ass, leaving the dealer holding the bag. An item made by an aftermarket vendor, but assigned a specific manufacturer part number is a different situation.

Will an exhaust void warranty?? Hard to argue that one considering the truck has no clue what is happening past the rear O2 sensor. The ECU can see a change in backpressure by way of other sensors, but thats about it.

Read up on Magnuson-Moss. The basics say that the dealer has to ignore the fact that the aftermarket parts are there and repair it. In the process of the repair, if they can link the problem to the part, yes they can void it, but only that area.

Example: You have a brand new red truck, you paint it pink. Driving down the road one day the engine blows up. If the dealer says you have no warranty for the engine because your truck was red, thats illegal. They have to find the pink paint inside the engine first. Painting the truck did however void your paint and corrosion protection.

Don't be afraid to challenge the dealer. They think you are going to take it up the rear because you won't want to fight them over it. Stand your ground if you know you are in the right.
