Hi, I have a 2009 Tacoma with 80k miles. The dealer fix my spiral cable. I thought you said this is done under warranty which mean I am way out of warranty or did I mis-understand?

This is a recall. It doesn't matter if it is under warranty or not. Take it to the dealer and they will do it if it hasn't already been done.

That is what I thought...I brought it in yesterday with my recall letter and they had my car for 30 minutes and gave me a $0 invoice and said you good to go. Do you know what is involved in this recall, what part did they replaced/fix? 30 minutes seems too fast for me to do any fixing but then I am not a professional mechanics.

How fast could one change out the spiral cable?

Ah, just got through reading about spiral cable. I had no idea spriral cable is the same thing as clock spring. There are a few thread discussing replacing the clock spring so I guess 30 minutes is about right for a machanic to work on.

So if you bought a 2012 truck say in june of 2012 would the cable already be replaced? I never received any recall letters and the dealership everytime I took in checked for recalls.....and never found any....

Probably replaced already or not involved in the recall to begin with. This recall was instigated in March of 2012...
