Not many Fabric based options work in wind. Even if they survive the noise wont let you sleep. I recently purchased a www.aliner.com trailer and so far so good in wind and rain.

Keep in mind I'm talking extreme wind and for camping I consider that to be in the 25mph+ range. Tents can withstand that but its not fun. The RTT's are still tents and not a ton better than a good ground tent, in fact it can be much worse due to the high profile.

What were the failures? Did it rip in half an fly away? Did your friend not buy the weather skirt for rain. Can you be a little more specific please.

I like the bed rack/rails! And the matte wrap. The rest could be done easy or is just fluff (badges inside?? pfft).

Lame. The percentage donations should be going to State Parks...of course I'm a little biased.

Can't speak for his friend but with ours we have only experienced what was reported as 40-45 mph winds with ours with no failures. We did follow the manufacturers instructions and park the truck so the rear of the tent was facing the wind and had our SLO Sail & canvas rain fly on as well. Little flapping due to my not having fixed all of the rain fly tie-down points but not enough to keep us awake.
