    Take it to the Toyota dealership in Tijuana and see what they say and if it's fixable and you want to avoid your insurance, I would get the parts in the USA and get the work done in TJ for half the labor cost. I've had good luck with Toyota mechanics in Mexico when I lived in Torreon, they want to keep their good job. The new parts costs about the same and some are even cheaper in the USA because of high import tariffs in Mexico.

    damn man, that is rough, def time for an engine cage and at least bump stops!!

    gnarly hit tho, people who dont know about the desert wont know how bad you can get fucked up by hitting a whoop at the wrong time. I cant tell in that vid how high you were launched after hitting that second whoop.

    If you're trying to avoid insurance for a reason, then cool. But, I'll be the third to say it. There's a chance you totaled the truck. I'd def see before I continued shelling out money fixing it.
    While the parts to replace aren't expensive, the labor involved is what will jack the repair price up. Hole in block = new engine. Possible bad mount = pulled engine and replace mount. Airbags, not sure on tacos, but my old 150 was like a jenga puzzle messing with the dash, and all the little things with the airbags and all the sensors. That's $$$ in labor taking everything apart and putting back together.
    This is why you'll see brand new bmw's with a minor front end collision totaled. Possible slight engine damage, even though it still runs, and airbag deployment. At a good shop, that means they are tearing that dash apart, replacing sensors and bags.

    Anyway, with that said. I'd give the insurance company a call, and see if you can get it totaled. Bluebook on tacomas is extremely high right now, and the actual retail price is much lower, so you have a good chance of coming out with a newer truck. Unless you want to avoid them and keep it, then I'd go with what MotoX said. Forget the airbag if it's going to be a pain, which it probably will, and get the race wheel. Have one in my Jeep. Glad too, b/c it would of def deployed a couple times when I've been romping through the woods and hit holes and stopped suddenly.

    I had a very similar thing happen. The motor mounts did not break themselves, but the did rip a chunk of frame loose on one side. Fan would hit the shroud when I turned or put it in reverse.

    If that seal doesn't hold, replacing the upper oil pan is really not a bad job. It can easily be done in your driveway and the parts are way less expensive than you might expect. The biggest hassle is removing stuff to access the oil pan: axles, front driveshaft, front differential, and steering rack all need to come out.

    You're not alone with this type of break. :eek:

    It doesn't leave enough room to remove the upper pan. Trust me -- I tried everything.

    I was most pissed about having to remove the steering rack because the hose assembly was rusted in place and couldn't be removed without cutting it. More than doubled the cost of the job because Toyota uses their own custom fittings. The local hydraulic line shops couldn't match them so I had to order factory replacement lines...which cost more than the new upper and lower oil pans combined.

    Wait, you're a dealer tech? How in the world do you manage to clear the parts for removal by just dropping the diff down rather than removing it?

    And I'd love to know if there's a way to remove it without pulling the steering rack. The clearance just wasn't there when I tried.

    Remove fan and shroud. Drop diff, remove lower pan, go forward and then up past the rad(it's tricky, but doable). Remove rad if necessary. Then do same for upper pan.
