Brake Pad Rattle

Spring is here and windows are down. When going over bumpy roads they rattle and clunk. The only way to quiet them is to be enough on the brakes to keep them from shifting. I have heard there is a TSB for this. Interesting. I have experienced this on most of my vehicles when the pads are worn. If it was the right metal i would be inclined to tack weld the back of the pad to the caliper.
They don't stay new forever.

 

If you're still under factory 3/36 - take the truck to the dealer. However - brakes are a 'wear' item and they might not cover it. It's a toss up...

I would inspect the pads & calipers and make sure nothing came loose. I would also inspect the anti-squeal pads. You could add some anti-squeal lube to the backside of the pads.

Other than that....make sure the pistons are moving (not locked up).

Also, check your rotors. If your rotors are warped, you can get clicky/clunky brakes.
