So, I'll be honest. I am seriously contemplating buying a new vehicle given the state of the economy, good deals, my own vehicle, etc. Is Toyota drowning? Nah, but I'm sure their sales have dropped (40% or so says the salesman) and can possibly make me some type of deal. Attached is a pic of what went down...

This is actually the first trip to a dealership when I had my truck to trade (2004 Nissan XE V6 Crew Cab Auto with 103k). I had just gone to CarMax to see what they would give as a ballpark. They offered me $5k cash. The toyota dealership initially offered me $4500  For some reason, I thought it would have been more. Regardless, I finally got them to $7500 but the vehicle in question is the issue. I'll admit, this will be a very large purchase for me. I don't go through cars like water. I want this next truck to run until 300k miles. They had nothing on the lot I liked, but (of course) had access to: 2009 Toyota Tacoma Access Cab 4 Banger Auto in Timberland Mica (negative on the big boxy subwoofer also). They said they could sell it to me for $20,263 and with my trade in ($7500) it would be $14,573OTD to finance. I'll be honest, that's more than I really wanted to finance as I was initially thinking used, but for the price I'm paying used it's really not too much more for new! What do you guys think? Wait it out to closer to the end of the year? Keep in mind this is only my first dealership and this offer is still good until the end of the year... It's all a thought!

Well the dealership keeps calling me but I've still got a little bit of research to do I guess. I still need to head to other dealerships, etc. We'll see as I'm off this Sunday and plan to do just that.

I'll be honest, I'm kind of leaning against it right now because it's just more than I had wanted to finance at one time for a car I don't exactly need right now. My current truck is getting older and I'm really just kind of getting sick of the same routine. Mechanically, it runs great. I've had it about four years now. It's not a truck I want to drive until 300k. I don't know...

I just bought the same truck a few months ago. Four banger, 4x2, auto, access cab, SR5, with floor mats for $20,063. after 7yr/100K extended warranty and TT&T it was $21,207.22 on the road. I could of had an extra $500 rebate off the price but I chose the 2.9% interest for 5 yrs.

I did not spend too much time shopping around because I'm so busy and the older I get less I screw around with salespeople. I go in buy a car or truck I need/want and try to get out as fast as possible.

I could have gotten a well loaded Chevy or GMC 4x4 for the same price but decided to stay with Toyota. This is my 5th Tacoma the first was a 1976 Toyota pickup that was my service truck used for fixing home appliances. I dogged that truck for a few years and when I quit the job I bought the truck from my boss. Pretty much had a Toyota pickup ever since.

Well to be honest, I've done the "Black Book" deal that dealerships link you to on their website to give you an idea of what your trade-in will be worth and it always comes out to like $6,500-$8,500....

ask to see the invoice. their invoice, is not the real invoice i bet.

make sure to back out the extra fees added on the invoice (dealer holdback, toyota tda, etc.). that is their actual cost. that is the amount to base your decision on.
